 Online Rock Music Radio
If you have ever scanned your radio to find a station, you are likely spoiled for choice with the amount of stations that are out there. It is also likely that you find a fair amount of station playing rock and modern music. It is something that we take for granted today; however, there was a time when this did not exist. Many artists that played what was considered rock music were not allowed to be played on the air. Many feared the music and felt it would lead to a break down of discipline. Some extremist even felt that the music was the work of the devil itself. Nowadays these thoughts seem silly and as said before, we are spoiled for choice and even take for granted what we have today. However, if it weren’t for the actions of some pioneering and courageous people, we would not have the multitude of choice and selection of music today.

Many do not realize that this form of music had such an impact on the way we live today. Rock and roll music has been credited in helping break down racial barriers that were common in the United States during the 1950’s. During this time, an American Disc Jockey named Allan Freed began playing what was known as American rhythm and Blues, music on his radio station. This form of music later became known as rock and roll. The music caught on quite quickly but created some controversy due to the fact that many of the artists were African American, at this time in the United States, African American Artists found it difficult to get their music played and many record companies would not sign them. Alan Freed attempted to change this and played music he thought people would enjoy despite their race.

Allan freed was also credited for creating many rock and roll music shows, many that were sold out in attendance. He is also credited for changing the music played in many of the radio stations he worked at. As the popularity of the music began to spread many of the other radio stations followed suit.

Today, many artists such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard Publicaly acknowledge a large part of their success to the efforts of Allan Freed. The next time you are looking for a station on your radio, consider how lucky you are to live in this day and age. It wasn’t so long ago when these stations were forbidden.
